The UK’s leading independent
energy
air dryer specialist.

In the energy sector, spanning power generation, distribution, and large-scale utilities, compressed air is a genuinely critical utility. It powers everything from heavy-duty turbine starting systems and ash handling to the precise pneumatic control valves that manage steam, gas, and cooling flows. Because these sites operate under continuous, high-demand conditions, when this air is poorly managed, the problems cascade quickly:

OUR Accreditations

Moisture and Condensation
If compressed air isn’t perfectly dry, water vapor condenses inside the pipework, causing internal corrosion and scale buildup.

Freezing
Energy generation often involves extensive outdoor or exposed pneumatic pipework. In colder months, condensed water can freeze, completely blocking air flow to critical valves.

Contamination
Compressor oil and particulates can foul delicate electro-pneumatic positioners and sensors used to precisely control plant operations.

System Inefficiency
Unchecked leaks, pressure drops and aging equipment force compressors to work harder, wasting real amounts of electricity and contradicting the facility’s core goal of energy efficiency.

When problems occur, the consequences hit both the bottom line and site safety:

Control Valve Failure (Safety)
If moisture corrodes or freezes inside a pneumatic control valve, it can fail to actuate. In a power plant, a stuck valve on a high-pressure steam or cooling line is a critical safety emergency.

Unplanned Plant Trips (Operational)
A single failed pneumatic instrument can force an automated safety shutdown (a “trip”) of a turbine or generator. Restarting can take hours or sometimes days.

Spiralling Operating Costs (Operational)
Compressed air is energy-intensive to produce. Inefficient, leaking systems bleed large amounts of power, eroding the plant’s internal efficiency metrics.

Emissions Compliance Failures (Operational)
Pneumatic systems are often used in flue gas desulphurisation and baghouse dust collection. If air supply fails, the plant risks venting untreated emissions into the atmosphere.

The ultimate implication of poor air quality in the energy sector is grid disruption and real financial loss. Unplanned downtime isn’t just a temporary halt, it can mean failing to meet energy supply contracts, facing regulatory penalties, and potentially destabilising the local power grid. In an industry increasingly focused on net-zero targets and efficiency, running a leaking, inefficient compressed air system undermines the operational mandate a plant has in place. Reliable, highly efficient air is non-negotiable.

ISO 45001 & Mitie Approved Supplier Status
Energy facilities are inherently hazardous, high-voltage environments. Our ISO 45001 accreditation gives energy sector clients absolute confidence in our occupational health and safety standards. As an approved supplier to Mitie, one of the UK’s leading facilities management companies, we have a proven track record of supporting critical infrastructure safely and reliably across complex managed sites.

Energy-Saving Retrofits & Proactive Service
We align with what your facility’s is actually trying to achieve, delivering compressed air solutions focused on efficiency and reliability. Through advanced air measurement, leak detection, and energy-saving retrofits, ADT meaningfully reduce internal power consumption. Our proactive service plans are designed to identify wear before it causes a failure, minimising the risk of unplanned downtime.

Moisture is the primary cause of frozen lines and sticking control valves in exposed industrial environments. By utilising robust desiccant and high-performance refrigerated dryers, ADT lowers the compressed air dew point to deliver ultra-dry, clean air. This specialised treatment prevents internal pipe corrosion, eliminates the risk of freeze-ups, and keeps your critical pneumatic controls actuating reliably, guaranteeing the continuous power generation your operations demand.
